Slick & Gracie
We adopted our two girls from Sammy’s Forgotten Felines in February 2021. We had said goodbye to our dear Cabby months before and our hearts and home felt empty. We reached out to Sammy’s Forgotten Felines to see if they had any adult girls ready for adoption. We were introduced to two girls that had been rescued by Sammy’s. The two girls were from a remote area outside of Kamloops and had been living in a dump.
Slick, the little one, had and has some ongoing medical issues – but we have got those in check. Slick (formerly known as Barbara Streisand) although a petite young cat, was the alpha at the dump. When she walked into our home, she strutted right out of her carrier looking to her left and right as if it say to herself “Yup, this place will do”.
Gracie (formerly Zsa Zsa) was much more reserved. It took Gracie a couple of hours before she felt comfortable enough to start exploring her new home.
These two girls are fully domesticated. Slick acts more like a puppy than a cat. She likes to fetch her toys and follows us around to see what we are doing. Slick also likes to play with dogs. Dogs that are six times her weight; but that does not stop or intimidate her. She just wants to play. Gracie loves to watch TV.
We call Slick and Gracie our “Greeters”. When people come to visit, our “Greeters” saunter to our foyer to welcome whoever is calling. These once feral cats love people.
If you have reservations about adopting a former feral cat, remember these two success stories. Slick and Gracie were feral before Sammy’s Forgotten Felines rescued them.
Slick and Gracie have been members of our family for 15 months. They supply us with lots of laughs, snuggles, and love.
Our thanks and appreciation to Julie and the rest of the wonderful people at Sammy’s Forgotten Felines.
