Fostering
Sammy's Forgotten Felines Rescue Society is volunteer run. We don't have a physical shelter and rely on foster homes to house our rescue cats. We do have a foster home that is used as our main hub. This is where our rescue cats are first brought and assessed before going to their own foster home. We feel a home environment is much less stressful for the cat, giving us a much more accurate assessment of the cat's "feralness". It is also a better environment for socialization. We are always in need of foster homes. More foster homes means more cats rescued!

Little Space RequiredJust a small spare bedroom or a bathroom. We do require your foster cat to be separated from your own pets. This isn’t cruel - they would have less space in a shelter. It is temporary and helps a shy, scared cat feel secure and promotes socialization.
It Won't Make Your Cat MadYour cat shouldn’t actually ever meet your foster cat. They will be separated. We always recommend washing your hands after visits with your foster cat. We want to protect your cat too!
It Is Short-termMaybe you would love to adopt a cat, but for whatever reason you can’t make the long-term commitment. Fostering gets you all the kitty love you need without the commitment!
You May Want To Keep ThemYes, it is hard to give them up, no doubt about it. But imagine how many lives you can save!
Teaches Children CompassionSelf explanatory. Let’s help future generations with this.
Cats And Kittens Are CuteWas there ever any doubt? Get your dose of fuzzybutt therapy from your foster!
Become An AdvocateTell your friends and neighbours how you are helping and become an advocate for those who can’t speak for themselves.
I Don't Know HowWe will teach you everything you need to know. We match up our rescue kitties with our foster’s level of comfort, experience, and home environment. We want you and your foster to succeed in the process and we will do all we can to help!

You Are Saving A LifeBest. Feeling. Ever.

Volunteers Needed!
We ALWAYS need volunteers! We need help with fundraising events, kennel cleaning, kitty TLC and socialization, transportation to vet clinics etc., trapping, fostering, administration work, crafters - the list goes on and on....
We also require volunteers at our main foster hub to help care for the cats while they await their own foster home. Because these cats are new intakes or possibly the harder-to-socialize, we want to maintain a calm, quiet environment and look for volunteers to match. The duties of this volunteer position include cleaning kennels, feeding, and TLC.
Volunteers should be 18+ years old. You choose how much time you can spare and what days work best for you.
If you have a skill that you think might be helpful to us, be sure to let us know!
